We are on the verge of a hardware-driven renaissance in urban manufacturing and this new wave of manufacturing will affect not just businesses but individuals as well. As a hub for applied science, commerce, technology and finance, and at the heart of global networks and supply chains, NYC is uniquely placed to benefit from new technological trends. The World to NYC program was created to leverage the opportunities presented by this renaissance.New manufacturing will change the way we connect with the world. New business models will emerge and established business models will be challenged like never before. This impact will become relevant for New York City businesses, their industry associations, policy makers, teachers and academics as well as the media. Most importantly, there is the potential to create opportunities in efficiency, connectivity, new business models and employment for all New Yorkers. It takes action to leverage the opportunities and address the challenges to make New York City home of applied science and the leading city of the industrial revolution 4.0.This spring, the World to NYC program invites technology and manufacturing companies from around the globe to apply to participate in a highly selective three-day program. Taking place May 12-14, W2NYC - New Manufacturing will allow each company to get an inside look into NYC’s manufacturing-tech ecosystem and build partnerships with local and national firms. New York International is partnering with the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) to present the World to NYC Global Industry Challenge program in 2014.The program will enhance discourse on what the next industrial revolution will look like for businesses, cities and citizens and facilitate the expansion of some of the world’s leading new manufacturing companies to NYC. The three-day program is just one part of the long-term, ongoing discussion that will take place around new manufacturing. Through this program we will promote a continuing dialogue between delegates and local industry leaders, develop a policy paper based on the learnings from the program, connect legacy manufacturing companies with innovative new startups, as well as conceive ideas on how NYC's businesses and citizens can capitalize on this fast growing sector going forward. For more information about this exciting new program please visit worldtonyc.com and don't hesitate to let us know if you would like to be involved.
