WARNING: Prepare your stomach for a second lunch because you will get hungry after reading this. Those of us that come from Latin America or grew up within a Latin American culture are very familiar with the concept of the food truck. In many countries in South and Central America, the best eats, like empanadas y papas fritas, usually come from a food truck. And now the food truck phenomenon is taking New York City by storm — although here the different cuisines offered by the trucks are endless. It’s an incredibly fun environment to be a part of, especially in the summer, waiting in line trying to figure out which menu item you will choose. Here is our list of favorite food trucks in New York City. The Munchie MobileThe Munchie Mobile is owned by three New York University students, and it serves burgers, a variety of grilled cheese sandwiches, five types of pancake dishes, and other sandwiches that simply can’t be categorized. One of our favorites of this relatively new food truck is El Chupacabra burger. This burger is packed with spicy mayo, a delicious burger patty, cheddar cheese, guacamole, jalapeno, red onions, lettuce, and tomato. The great thing about it is that it’s not an enormous burger, so you won’t feel too guilty about living on the wild side (and you won’t fall asleep at your desk after lunch). For updates on where The Munchie Mobile will be next, follow their Twitter page.Korilla BBQKorilla BBQ originated out of the simple question that we’ll pose to you as well: Who doesn’t love Korean BBQ? If you’ve ever had Korean BBQ, chances are that you can’t stop raving about the experience. Korilla BBQ brings that experience to you every time you taste any of its delicious menu items (which are ideal for both vegetarians and meat lovers alike). Their tacos and burritos make for a great lunch, with options like chicken, spicy pork, tofu, and beef. To find out where Korilla BBQ will be serving next, see the website. The Treats TruckThis is a chocolate lover’s dream! The Treats Truck drives around Manhattan filled with fresh baked goods like cookies, brownies, cake, and everything else you are craving after a rough day at work. The Treats Truck team does all of their baking in Red Hook, Brooklyn — but no worries if you’re not in Brooklyn; they are constantly on the move. We definitely recommend the Peanut Butter Sandwich as a treat to yourself — and if you really want to live a little, take a bite out of the Chocolate Chip Brownie. To find out more about The Treats Truck, you can follow them on Twitter.Feed Your HoleOne of our favorites, visit the Feed Your Hole Truck when you are absolutely famished because you will feel about one to two pounds heavier afterwards (hey, you’re allowed to cheat once a week right?). With items on the menu like Da Bronx Bomber, Porkys Dog, and Big Cheese Burger, you’re going to wish you hadn’t eaten for days. Da Bronx Bomber consists of a juicy burger patty paired with a grilled hotdog and fries on top. It is truly the perfect combination. Don’t miss out on the Diesel Burger either, as it comes with bacon, cheddar cheese, and ranch sauce. That should be illegal. To check out where Feed Your Hole will be next, follow it on Twitter.MorochoReminiscent of the Latin American food trucks we’re accustomed to, Morocho isa Union Square staple. With so many delicious menu items, our recommendation is definitely the Poor Man’s Burger. It is composed of a big, juicy patty, lettuce, tomato, salsa criolla (cilantro, lime juice, salt, red onions, and habanero), fried plantains, and red onions. Oh wait, not done yet — and a fried egg on top. Visit Morocho if you want a little taste of the beautiful Peruvian culture — you won’t be disappointed. Visit their Twitter page for more information.Wafels & DingesDefinitely a favorite here, Wafels & Dinges offers everything Belgian. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you will not be disappointed with Wafels & Dingesno matter what time of day it is. There are a plethora of dishes like the BBQ Pork Wafel, the Liege Wafel, and the popular de Bacon Syrup Wafel that will have you wishing you were Belgian. There are also several toppings available for purchase like nutella, dulce de leche, and whipping cream with strawberries (yum!). The food truck has an array of daily specials daily; one time there was an Italian Crepe special with prosciutto. To find out where The Crepes Truck will be next, follow them on Twitter. You should definitely try their famous Thai chicken basil dumplings with peanut sauce as well as their delicious miso soup. Follow them on Twitter to learn where you can taste some of the best Chinese food in the city!El Rey de SaborWhen thinking of Mexican food trucks in New York City, El Rey de Sabor was the first that came to mind because it truly is a five star menu. Some things to order include The Carne Asada taco and the enchiladas (probably best ones you’ve ever had). Make sure to add a lot of cilantro, since it is really tasty here. But don’t expect as many toppings as you’re used to with other Mexican foods around the city: Authentic, simple Mexican cuisine is all you will find here.If you’re feeling a bit on the lazy side and aren’t in the mood to follow food trucks around all week long, luckily for you there are specific locations around New York City where the most popular food trucks unite.
